Just Desserts
Bryant Street, Palo Alto, Ca.
Just Desserts, a Bay Area bakery / cafe chain, leased spaces in an existing commercial building and combined two storefront spaces resulting in 1,600 square feet for a new retail location.
The project included construction of a new kitchen / bakery, retail sales and cafe space with an exterior cafe garden area. A new street front exterior facade was constructed to give the building a new identity.
The existing storefront was modified and enhanced with cement plaster rustication, tile and copper accents, new windows and doors as well as a new street awning overhead and business signage.
The exterior finishes are carried into the interior where retail sales and cafe area are separated by a wood counter and copper mesh product display unit. The existing concrete floor has been sandblasted and stained. The cafe area features tables and booth seating fabricated from birch plywood with gel coat stain finish.
Torchere lighting, with custom shades on top of two columns, adds a warm glow to the product display area. In the windows, copper counters offer patrons a space to enjoy coffee and pastry while relaxing and viewing the street.
